How much does it suck that we even have to be having these conversations during the first round of the playoffs. ?

Thanks, Bill. It sort of feels like the lockout again. We can only root for our Flyers as they play overseas. *sigh*

There is nothing like NHL playoffs, but they certainly lose a bit of luster when the Flyers aren't in them.

I feel bad for Lauridsen playing against the Canadians today...

It will be a good learning experience, in the long run.

It does feel like the lockout to some degree. I'd be watching the World Championship games anyway but not writing about them (at least not for HB). I'd much rather be blogging about a playoff series.

Will they be televised anywhere? NHL channel has CHL playoffs listed.

Since the next big event is the draft, i'd highly recommend THN's annual draft issue w/ Seth Jones on the cover.

Interesting what their panel of scouts came up with. Here's their Top 25:

-S Jones
- Drouin
- MacKinnon
- Lindholm
- Nichushkin
- Barkov
- Monahan
- Nurse
- Lazar
- Pulock
- Wennberg
- Hagg
- Erne
- Zadorov
- Domi
- Horvat
- Burakowsky
- Mueller
- Morrissey
- Morin
- Rychel
- Ristolainen
- Shinkaruk
- Mantha
- Fucale

NBCSports the former Versus had the US game on this morning at the crack of dawn, I'm guessing they will be mainly showing games involving the US and Canada along with semis and final.

I thought it was interesting too. I was very surprised that they had Lindholm higher than Barkov and Nichushkin. I was also a little surprised to see Hagg, Zadorov, Morin and Morrissey all ahead of Ristolainen.

Outside the top 3 I would rate the next 5 forwards as
1. Barkov
2. Nichuskin
3. Lindholm
4. Monahan
5. Erne or Domi, I really like both of them

And after Jones I would rate the top 5 D as
1. Pulock
2. Nurse
3. Ristolainen
4. Zadorov
5. Hagg

Oh well, then again what do I know??

one thing that some scouts expressed about pulock was the opinion that he had already plateaued, which surprises me. Barkov is def the guy i like after the top tier. all of my opinions are based on other peoples write ups and brief film clips, so you sound like you know more than me.

Not really, except for a few guys in the CHL and the kids who played in the World Juniors, I've only seen clips and read scouting reports.

I'm always leery when a scout says an 18 year old kid has peaked. Now perhaps he has achieved his full growth, but strength and conditioning can always be improved as can skating if the player is willing to put the effort in. Also highly skilled prospects, like Pulock, often improve just by playing with more talented players, as he will as a pro, and by gaining experience.

I very much agree with you about Barkov, I think he has potential to be a beast in the NHL, and I wouldn't be shocked if he or Nichushkin for that matter, snuck up into the top 3.

Re: Pulock, that's because he's one of the "older" first-year-eligible prospects. Thinking he's plateaued is kind of silly, IMO.

Why? He played against Canadians, among others, his time in the NHL and did quite well.

I forgot that Lauridsen is playing too.. Dear God it seems like the entire Flyers roster is in this game. Lauridsen's team is winning BTW.
